Forget the whole, “she’s a woman!” argument and let’s look at it from a unbiased perspective; she does not look like she is strong enough to even fit the role!
Natalie Portman is 5 foot 2 and 100 pounds. She is really small and petite to the point that it would look comical to see her as “THE MIGHTY THOR!”
Look at Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley.
Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor
Even Geena Davis—despite the horrible movie—looked far more convincing in Cutthroat Island! She is 6 feet tall and actually did her own stunts!
They all look tough, brash, and kickass! Natalie Portman looks rather unintimidating, scrawny, and weak. Not really the best casting choice.
Charlize Theron (who should have gotten the role, IMOBTW) is far more believable as a mighty kickass Thor. She is one of my favorite action movie actors!
Hell, Angelina Jolie is even more convincing.
These actors put effort into their physic. They trained in martial arts and weightlifting to look like convincing action heroes.
Sorry, but Natalie Portman is just not “believable” as someone who can save the world. If she gains some muscle mass, perhaps? I’ll give the movie a chance, but if it sucks or her acting is weak, then sorry.
And do not give me that story that, “she was in V for Vandetta” she played that role as a weak, skitty, and pathetic drug addicted sociopath well, but it did not scream, ACTION MOVIE STAR to me at all.
Eleven from Stranger Things looked more intimidating!
Hell, Natalie Portman was more badass when she was younger, in the movie The Professional!!!
